He earned his PhD in Information Studies at McGill School of Information Studies. Prior to earning his doctoral degree, he completed his Master of Library and Information Studies at the University of Ibadan, and Bachelor of Library Science at TASUED, Nigeria. He employs mixed-methods research design and interdisciplinary theories to carry out his research.
His doctoral research on open access publishing practices of researchers in the humanities and social sciences disciplines earned him several prestigious awards. These include the Coalition Publica and the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture (FRQSC) doctoral scholarships in Canada. He was recently awarded the Humane Studies Fellowship at George Mason University, United States. His current postdoctoral research is funded by the FRQSC postdoctoral fellowship, focusing on the intersection of scholarly communication, research policy, and equity of access to knowledge.
