Philippe Mongeon is an assistant professor at the School of Information Management (SIM) at Dalhousie University, where he directs a quantitative science studies laboratory a>. His research focuses on scholarly journals and open access, the dynamics of scholarly communication and knowledge production specific to different disciplines and sub-disciplines, as well as the relationships between science and society, particularly those that take form on social media.
He holds a master's degree and a doctorate from the School of Library and Information Sciences at the University of Montreal, where he worked within the Canada Research Chair in Transformations of Information Technology. scholarly communication, directed by Vincent Larivière. He was also a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) at Leiden University, as well as at the Danish Center for Studies in Research and Research Policy (CFA) at Aarhus University.
